fellow residents of earth-- fellow human bodies each containing a soul or a genetically advanced evolutionalized brain which believes in souls..good morning....... ... it's 1999....prince gets the airplay, however 20 years ago the ramones proclaimed "it's the end, the end of the century... lost my place in the space time continuum"
nonetheless we have arrived... arrived where? let's examine "life" in some form, amoebas to man, has been around over 200 million years... fairly difficult to grasp that number...we absolutely know for certain that a "god" didn't create the earth, plants, animal and man (and woman from his "rib") and on the 7th day rested... we absolutely know for certain that we have evolved... as have insects, lobsters and computers; the last being a product of the human brain.... when you think in context of sharks having been around for 60 million years, why the fuss over a mere 2,000?
two thousand?...the impending wild celebration over the tumbling of a calendar date is as over hyped an event as the more impotent super bowl - is there a real meaning here? .... realistically, nothing will change... the only difference being discussed is the technical glitches looming due to computer inadequacies... "doomsday on the horizon" sending the simple minded into the hills with their rifles and canned goods. is this the only element that the media can find fit to focus on to lay importance on the so called millenium? at most, this may be a crease in the road, but more the equivalent to a speed bump, than say, the edge of a cliff...
since the topic is under pressure of time, and an unusual number (00) signalling a token turnover, perhaps it gives us a moment to examine some deeper issues... issues that are undeniable more pertinent to future of humans on this planet...
how ridiculous can it be that we're observing a petty political arm wrestle over an intimate whie collar lie, when the whole world could use social progress and security...? it would be easy to believe that those who "represent" the american populus as elected officials have completely lost the plot and are spiralling downward in their righteous self-importance, not only forgetting the people and their needs, but bringing us down with them... (shooting missiles along the way....)
y2k?.... the millenium....
don't believe the hype...
zero-zero..."00"...... it's got potential for a new beginning... a clean slate... a nice blanks sheet a paper, opposed to the current one with scribble all over it....
perhaps there was a missing line that john lennon regrettably left out of the song "imagine"... had there been a reference lyric to this turn of the century thing, that song wouldve been the soundtrack leading up to january first instead of "party over, whoops, out of time..." imagine that....
and if it's the "artist" that we're left with... who's complaining...? dance your life away... a similar fueling to world peace...
