What's New for May 1998

Sunday, May 31, 1998:
Ya know, y'all could have told us that the Dream Setlists form wasn't working! We wondered why there weren't any new setlists. =) It's fixed now...
Saturday, May 30, 1998:
Detroit and Vancouver tix on sale
A new Featured Photo of the Moment for your enjoyment!
Friday, May 29, 1998:
Vancouver tix: Any Seattleites (or WA residents) thinking about trying for Vancouver tickets tomorrow, be advised that TM is not selling these at WA state outlets; you can, however, call the local charge-by-phone numbers and attempt to purchase tickets that way. Good luck to all.
Thursday, May 28, 1998:
Seattle show: Ticketmaster has released additional tickets for the sold-out first show (through Ticketmaster Online); tix are still available for the second show as well. Also, Seattle FC tix are arriving in the mail. [added to the ten club ticket status list] [Thanks to Phil Navarre and Tom Helm Jr.]

Have you checked out the dream setlists? These are the funniest, most creative, most wonderful things we have seen! Go read, and post your own (when you're done laughing...) =)

The Ten Club hotline transcription page has been updated (actually a couple of days ago but we're just remembering to note it here).

Wednesday, May 27, 1998:
Going Mobile: Updated on-sale time and more info about the Greenville, SC date; correction to the venue info in Las Vegas. [Thanks to Katie Williams and Chuck Kondor]
Tuesday, May 26, 1998:
Detroit ticket info: Tix on Saturday, wristbands being given out starting tomorrow, and more rules and regulations than you ever saw in your life for a ticket sale, all in Going Mobile. [Thanks to Mr. X, Bob Lang and Bob Niekamp]
Monday, May 25, 1998:
Vancouver: Tix on sale this Saturday, 5/30. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Barry Wilson and Matt Goody]

Dream setlists...: There's been a lot of chat on MFC about everyone's dream setlist...unfortunately, to keep the board moving, we have to delete old posts, so we've created a new section, Write Your Dream Setlist, where you can go and post your personal dream setlist or suggestion, and see what other fans want to hear as well!

Friday, May 22, 1998:
Vancouver mystery solved: The venue is the Pacific Coliseum, which sits on the PNE grounds. (Or at least that's what the Canadians say, so blame 'em if we're wrong! =))) [Thanks to Dan, Jim Marsh, David Savitt and Mark Wilmot]

TFC tickets: An announcement has been made that the remaining tickets will go on sale next Tuesday at 10:30am. Of course, there's nothing about this on the TFC web site. You're on your own here. [Thanks to Ronnie L. Church]

[both of the above in Going Mobile]

new dates and opening bands: so, we were wrong about vancouver, but there's a date. =) All the announced openers and new dates added to Going Mobile and know your opening band!. Caryn set a new HTML land speed record, so if you catch any errors, please let us know =) Now, if they can just get Iggy on the MSG dates, we'll be very very very happy campers :D Wonder if Lou Reed's got some open time (yes, we're dreaming)... or hey, Patti Smith might love to do some shows... (we'll shut up now)

Also, Alice in Chains/Jerry Cantrell are absolutely, positively NOT opening! This from their management. Sorry.

"the world's a mess, it's in my kiss...": allstar news reports X is confirmed as openers for Vegas, LA and Sacto. [Going Mobile and know your opening band!]

Thursday, May 21, 1998:
Letterman: tomorrow night! In News.[Thanks to TopClue]

Spacehog: Opening in San Diego. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Andrew Snodgrass]

Wednesday, May 20, 1998:
A hint on Synergy making reference to a possible EV appearance on Letterman. We don't know any more than that, so set your VCR's!

Opening bands: Fu Manchu are not opening Toronto (even though the promoter's web page said they were!); however, the great Murder City Devils *are* opening the shows in STL, KC and Dallas! [And yes, we know we mentioned them in "News" a few weeks back =)] For more information about the opening bands, check out our new section, know your opening band!, in Going Mobile. [Thanks to Maddi, the punk rock receptionist =)]

Tuesday, May 19, 1998:
"Has anybody gotten their Ten Club tickets for...??": In an attempt to quell the general panic, check out our new Ten Club Ticket Status page, a new addition to Going Mobile.

There's a brand-new Song of the Month up for your enjoyment. Thanks for your patience.

Of course, if the sound files server is up, that means that the Message Board is also back in business. =)

Sunday, May 17, 1998:
Sorry, there's a problem with the message board. The server appears to be down. It will get taken care of as soon as it can, but probably not until tomorrow morning.

Some new questions added to the Tour FAQ, and one of the opening bands for Seattle, in Going Mobile.

Saturday, May 16, 1998:
Many Fans Converging: The Message Board is back, and newly named, and ready for your posts. We will need to remove all the posts on a weekly basis to save space, so keep that in mind. Have fun!
Friday, May 15, 1998:
"Now i wanna be your dog...": Pearl Jam have now cemented their status as the coolest band in rock and roll today. Why? Because the grandaddy of all punk rock, IGGY POP, is going to be opening both Philly shows! If you've never seen Iggy, and you're going to these shows, consider yourselves blessed. (What's really funny is that Caryn has talked about this being her dream lineup for three years now. Maybe we'll finally get to see that "Blood"/"I Wanna Be Your Dog" segue....)

Oh, and Mudhoney's also on the bill one of the two nights, too. =) In Going Mobile. [Major props to Michael Stevick for pointing this out!]

Message Board and SOTM: We've found a new home for the message board, and hope to have it up this weekend or early next week. As for SOTM, yes, we know we missed April, but our sound files server was down for much of the month anyway, so even if we'd gotten it together, it wouldn't have made any difference. Soon, we promise...

Wednesday, May 13, 1998:
Tibet tix: We've been through their web site, and it says that they will be selling additional obstructed view tickets "with access to the entire stadium" (wasn't this show GA?) sometime soon. You can register with them to get email when the tickets are going to go on sale, so we suggest you go there and do that if you're interested. More in Going Mobile.

Interview w/Jack: The current article on Addicted To Noise is simply a summary of an interview Jack did, prior to the Aussie tour, that's featured in this month's Modern Drummer. More about that interview, as well as one more recent band interview, in the good ol' Yield Media Roundup.

Monday, May 11, 1998:
Matt Cameron speaks: we've posted an edited version of his on-line chat session from last week to clear up many of the rumors about what he said or didn't say. In News. [Thanks to Bill Flanders for the original modified transcription]

The July 11 show in Las Vegas confirmed, and an on-sale date. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to vedrfan and Matt Rich]

The September 7 show in Virginia Beach confirmed. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to: Adam Cornett, Steve, Jonathan Caraccilo, Matt Mullenix]

Sunday, May 10, 1998:

Salt Lake City venue change; Goodness confirmed for SLC and Denver. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to: Chris Hilton, Allen Platt, no c4o2d0e, Debbie Hammer, Krista Plowthow]

"Tonight let's all make love in London...: The "Interstellar" jam that PJ opened with at the AROspace show has been identified as none other than a brief version of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" (from the album Piper At The Gates of Dawn). We've linked a mp3 of the original from the 1998 Concert Chronology entry to this show, if you were interested. [*MAJOR* props go out to Scott Diana for suggesting that we check this out!]

Saturday, May 9, 1998:
Seattle and Toronto (Barrie) tix on sale
Second Seattle Show on sale now; you won't get through on the phones, but you can grab 'em through TM Online...

The third LA date vanishes yet again. We're hearing lots of rumors around the 7/11 date, but nothing substantive yet.

Speaking of substantive, we're waiting for something similar for that mysterious Virginia Beach show. Anyone?

Friday, May 8, 1998:
Setlist and brief notes for last night's surprise show in Seattle in the Concert Chronology, as well as a brief review, and now, the photos! [linked from the review]
Thursday, May 7, 1998:
Added some new info about the Toronto date, including more opening acts and a ticket limit (lol). [Thanks to Matthew Bourque, Robert Butler, Mark Wilmot]

TFC tix on sale on-line info. [Thanks to Adam Steiner] ...Both of the above in Going Mobile.

For what it's worth, we don't have any confirmation of the alleged 9/7 date, aside from the news story yesterday. We're checking. =)

Wednesday, May 6, 1998:
Fixed the Cheap Trick link in Going Mobile. Sorry, it was late last night. :)

"Surrender, surrender...": woo hoo! an incredible opening band added to the tour schedule for the Toronto show! In Going Mobile. [Thanks to the Rumor Pit]

The Rumor Pit confirms what we've been saying for a while now, that we will start to see random dates added to this tour. Our hunches: a Bay Area show and possibly Las Vegas. When we know for sure, you know we will post. =)

Also, Epitaph confirms that Zeke are opening some dates on this tour, but we don't know exactly which ones yet.

Tuesday, May 5, 1998:
An update on the message board situation.

Also, Milarepa reports that they will be selling additional tix to the TFC from their web site shortly. When we know the date, we'll post. [Thanks to the gazillion people who sent us this and posted it on the late, lamented message board =(]

Monday, May 4, 1998
Updated ticket sales info for Seattle [time] and Toronto [new date and time]. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to eric kuperman, & Mary Maguire]

At long last, the Concert Video Guide is updated ... lots of new additions, including:
