What's New for April 1998

Thursday, April 30, 1998:
Bunch'o stuff: "Wishlist" single and the Letterman web site tells us what the band is going to play (guess, doh!), in News; a brand-new tour date, TFC ticket prices, the third LA date wavers yet again on the horizon, and Sacto show details, in Going Mobile. [Thanks to: Mike Liedtke, Matt Turk, Jessica Triche, Rob Johnson, Emmett Malloy, Bryan Bledstein, and Mr. X]

We do not know anything about a highly-speculative rumored small club show in NYC tomorrow. But we'd beware of any Mookie Blaylock posters we saw around town :D

Corrected the 03/9/98 Sydney setlist (finally!) [thanks to Lynn!] and revised the 03/11/98 Sydney notes and added encore break in the 98 Concert Chronology

Wednesday, April 29, 1998:
Moooookie: Obviously, y'all were busy writing a bit of email: MTV and The Real World respond!
Tuesday, April 28, 1998:
Some updates to the Seattle guide, added from your email. Thanks!

Lots of you are writing because your radio station is claiming that Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are suing PJ for GTF. This is complete and total bullshit; when they were interviewed for MTV News a while back, they dismissed the alleged similarities (which we, as big Zep fans, don't even hear) completely. Follow the link if you want the truth.

Seattle-bound for the show this summer? Check out our newest Shoes For Our Friends article: The 5h Ultimate Seattle Guide!

Monday, April 27, 1998:
Mookie Blaylock: Want to know what really happened on Saturday? Be sure to read our update!

We know, we know, we know. We know we fucked up the on-sale time for Indiana/Deer Creek OR Alpine Valley, whatever it was, make up your mind. We fucked up. We're sorry. Please stop the nasty email and newsgroup posts. We double-check our OWN information before we call for tickets; so should you.

Saturday, April 25, 1998:
Knoxville, Indianapolis, E. Troy (2nd show) tickets on sale
Mookie Blaylock live in Seattle???: What would you do if you were walking down the street and saw a poster advertising a Mookie Blaylock show? Read about Caryn's experience this afternoon in our latest "Shoes For Our Friends" article, entitled Faithfull.
Friday, April 24, 1998:
Server down: 5h will be down from 1-3pm PST today (we hope no longer) while our service provider moves offices.

Going Mobile: Change to the on-sale time for the 2nd Alpine Valley show. [Thanks to Bryan Frost]

Thursday, April 23, 1998:
E. Lansing tickets on sale
First Opening Act Announced!: in News. [Thanks to Chris Hilton]

Going Mobile: TFC on-sale time change, and PJ only to play second day; Alabama on-sale date announced. [Thanks to Rick P. and OutsideEye]

Wednesday, April 22, 1998:
The tickets are coming! The tickets are coming!: Ten Club tickets begin to wind their way through the mail; in News.

Some News items: "Wishlist" release date and Matt Cameron to play on Letterman. [Thanks to the gazillion people who sent us both of these]
Saturday, April 18, 1998:
San Diego and Denver tickets on sale
We don't know any more about the drummer situation than what is posted in News. Please don't write asking us for "more information" because we don't have any other information, and it would be totally inappropriate for us to idly speculate.
Friday, April 17, 1998:
Now that you've recovered from the big news, WHFS reports an on-sale date for the TFC tickets. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Scott]

We've confirmed the rumor ourselves personally: Matt Cameron IS going to be joining Pearl Jam on the road this summer. In News. [Thanks to Jen Kern and Silver Management]

Thursday, April 16, 1998:
Merriweather update: ProTix takes back what it said -- the tickets are NOT going on sale Saturday. Sorry.

Correction on the Indianapolis on-sale date. Sorry all.

Also, added a link to the official TFC '98 web site. Please note that we will NOT be keeping you up-to-date on anything concerning the TFC that doesn't concern ticket sales or Pearl Jam; it's wonderful that all these fabulous bands are playing, but we're a PJ web site. =) [Thanks to Patrick Gallagher and Joe Berkemeier]

[Both of the above in Going Mobile.]

Wednesday, April 15, 1998:
Indiana on-sale date added. [Thanks to Tony Buechler]

Going Mobile: on-sale dates for Tennessee and Michigan. [Thanks to Jon Kovalcik and Jane Ragno]

TFC: there's supposed to be this big announcement today; hopefully someone in the DC area will be listening and will inform us? (Please?!) =)

Tuesday, April 14, 1998:
San Diego venue change: from the Sports Aroma to the SDSU campus. This venue is only about 11,000 people, so our hunch that there'll be a second show added looks pretty good. [Thanks to Eric Ratner, Paul Coleman, Brian Wallace, and Joaquin Elizondo]

San Diego on-sale date announced. Heads up: they may very well add a second date if sales for the first one are brisk. You might do well to hover at your local TM outlet just in case. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Karen Bilotti and Jason Skinder]

Monday, April 13, 1998:
Denver: on-sale date announced! In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Katharine Kennedy]

Also, WHFS says there will be an "exclusive announcement" about the TFC tickets this Wednesday; we'll post as soon as we have information.

Saturday, April 11, 1998:
Hartford, Cleveland, Montreal, Portland, SLC tickets on sale
Good luck to all!
Friday, April 10, 1998:
Hartford warning: ProTix is not only handling the PJ sale tomorrow, but also will be selling tickets to a Metallica show at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, on sale at the same time. They use a central phone bank, so it doesn't matter what number you use, it all goes to the same place. Our advice: if you're dialing, keep dialing; don't give up just because it's relentlessly busy. However, folks trying to get tix on the phone may very well get shut out of this show :( [and us among them...] [Special thanks to David Savitt for that info]

Going Mobile: Possible ticket limit for the Portland sale tomorrow; tentative on-sale date for Seattle; and other such useful info available. Good luck to everyone calling for tickets tomorrow morning!!!

Thursday, April 9, 1998:
Eddie & the Chicago Cubs: In News. [Thanks to Adrian Mociran who told us about this yesterday but we didn't believe him, and Dave Greely for sending the news story along]
Wednesday, April 8, 1998:
Hartford update: Protix made an announcement to hand out wristbands at 3pm local time today; they were only being handed out from 3-5pm (and we only got the news after 5pm). However, if you're local, might want to give a call to your local outlet and see what the deal is. There will be a lottery in place for this ticket sale. [Thanks to Shaun Hickson]

Some updated info in Going Mobile: ticket limits for Montreal and Cleveland; local info for Rapid City and Birmingham; etc. [Thanks to Teresa Peters, Angela Torres, Eric Kuperman, Lindsay, tim c, justin rousseau]

Finally, expect an announcement for the TFC ticket sales date next week, according to local DC radio. [Thanks to Sam Murray]

Tuesday, April 7, 1998:
Greenville, SC on-sale date, but we'd take this one with a grain of salt since locals inform us this venue is still nowhere near completion. [Thanks to John Brewer]

On-sale dates: Salt Lake City announced, and the confirmed time for the Portland sale. [Thanks to Matt D'Haenens & Rob Johnson]

San Diego venue changed. In Going Mobile. Still no info on ticket sales. [Thanks to Eric Marc Ratner and Raistrick]

Monday, April 6, 1998:
Hartford and Minneapolis on-sale times confirmed. [Thanks to Evan Wick and Brian Doe]

Cleveland: on-sale date announced. Also corrections/additions to the Montreal info, and a clarification about what "sold out" means or doesn't mean. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Nick Campitelli, Greg E. and Brad Skog]

If you have tapes from the NZ/OZ shows, please send us setlist corrections. We know a number of the setlists are inaccurate.
Here are several Concert Chronology additions and corrections, including two new soundbytes:

Friday, April 3, 1998:
Atlanta and Kansas City tickets on sale
Montreal on-sale date announced. In Going Mobile. Also, we've added a page listing all the PJ Ticket Traders Links to Going Mobile. Help out other fans or yourself get to see the band this summer!

Some of you have written to ask what happened to the "Wishlist" single scan that was on the News page earlier today. We found out that the scan didn't belong to the person who sent it to us, and out of respect to the person who it actually belonged to, we've removed it.

Cleveland on-sale date to be announced on Monday at 5pm. [Thanks to Aaron Baker]

Thursday, April 2, 1998:
Second Boston Show Added: In Going Mobile. [Thanks to David Savitt, Mike Ellis, Christopher Martin, Christopher Davey, Marc Wallerce]

Boston info has changed slightly, Minneapolis on-sale date announced, correction on the Philly ticket info -- sorry about that. (However, we still think that it'd be a good idea to hover around a TM outlet after you get your tickets for the first night.) In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Shaun Hickson, Scott Richardson]

Gang, please note -- all we can do is track what you report to us. That goes for on-sale times as well as notes and information about cities, etc. Please don't write us flame mail (or flame us on various mailing lists) if we dare to post information that a particular venue might be located in a bad part of town. For every piece of email we've gotten saying X venue is in a bad location, we've gotten one saying it isn't; in the end all we can do is try to warn people who are not from the area to be a little more careful than usual, and that is not a bad thing. Condemning all of Going Mobile publicly because we said the sound in the Forum sucks (based on what we have been told!) seems to be a waste of energy.

Most of all, though, thanks to all of you for your continual help and contributions in this section. We couldn't do it without you.

Wednesday, April 1, 1998:
Second Philly Show Confirmed: and will go on sale on Saturday with the first date. Also updated info for various dates, including Missoula, Phoenix and the TFC. In Going Mobile. [Thanks to Rob Strommer, Frank D'Angelo, Derek, and Kelly Fairlie]
